(4) 大力發(fā)展集成化軟件
目前，可編程序控制器的生產(chǎn)廠商開發(fā)系統(tǒng)硬件費用的比例逐年下降，而開發(fā)軟件、集成等費用的比例逐年上升。現(xiàn)在的成套軟件將可編程序控制器的編程、操作員界面、運動控制、程序調(diào)試、故障診斷和處理、通信等集成為一體。人-機界面及監(jiān)控軟件集成了所有開放的標準接口，可直接從生產(chǎn)中獲得大量實時數(shù)據(jù)，并對這些數(shù)據(jù)進行分析和打包，然后傳送到管理層，同時它能將過程優(yōu)化數(shù)據(jù)和生產(chǎn)細節(jié)的參數(shù)迅速地反饋到控制層和現(xiàn)場，從而為集成ERP系統(tǒng)鋪平道路。
(5) 微型可編程序控制器異軍突起
傳統(tǒng)的微型可編程序控制器一般為8~64點數(shù)字量I/O，1~4點模擬量I/O，體積很小，可直接安裝在機器內(nèi)。但現(xiàn)在的微型可編程序控制器除了上述功能外，在網(wǎng)絡功能和人機接口功能上已可與中大型的可編程序控制器相比，這一類微型可編程序控制器是目前發(fā)展最快的。西門子公司的LOGO，羅克韋爾自動化公司的PICO都是這類微型可編程序控制器的代表。
