先導(dǎo)溢流閥的主閥上腔壓力，是由先導(dǎo)閥加于控制的。如果先導(dǎo)閥正常工作，即主閥上腔有先導(dǎo)閥規(guī)定的壓力，則整個溢流閥就會在系統(tǒng)壓力到達(dá)調(diào)定壓力時其主閥口打開一定的開度，一方面能將系統(tǒng)多余流量流回油箱，另一方面又能維持系統(tǒng)的壓力為先導(dǎo)閥的調(diào)定值?？梢?，先導(dǎo)閥主要管壓力，主閥服從先導(dǎo)閥的領(lǐng)導(dǎo)，在先導(dǎo)閥動作時將主閥口開到合適大小，正好將多余流量流出去，又不影響系統(tǒng)壓力。

流量控制利用調(diào)節(jié)閥芯和閥體間的節(jié)流口面積和它所產(chǎn)生的局部阻力對流量進(jìn)行調(diào)節(jié)，從而控制執(zhí)行元件的運動速度。流量控制閥按用途分為 5種。⑴節(jié)流閥：在調(diào)定節(jié)流口面積后，能使載荷壓力變化不大和運動均勻性要求不高的執(zhí)行元件的運動速度基本上保持穩(wěn)定。⑵調(diào)速閥：在載荷壓力變化時能保持節(jié)流閥的進(jìn)出口壓差為定值。這樣，在節(jié)流口面積調(diào)定以后，不論載荷壓力如何變化，調(diào)速閥都能保持通過節(jié)流閥的流量不變，從而使執(zhí)行元件的運動速度穩(wěn)定。⑶分流閥：不論載荷大小，能使同一油源的兩個執(zhí)行元件得到相等流量的為等量分流閥或同步閥；得到按比例分配流量的為比例分流閥。⑷集流閥：作用與分流閥相反，使流入集流閥的流量按比例分配。⑸分流集流閥：兼具分流閥和集流閥兩種功能。
