四方輸出表決電路對于所有的關(guān)鍵信道給出多重冗余，保證了安全和最大的利用率。雙通道輸出模件給出剛剛足夠的冗余度以保證安全運(yùn)行。雙重化模件更適合于低成本比最大利用率更重要的關(guān)鍵安全場合。
每種數(shù)字輸出模件均可對每點(diǎn)進(jìn)行專門的輸出表決器診斷（OVD）。一般而言，在OVD執(zhí)行過程中每一個(gè)點(diǎn)的狀態(tài)被逐點(diǎn)保存在輸出驅(qū)動(dòng)器上。在模件上的反饋控制回路允許每個(gè)微處理器讀出此點(diǎn)的輸出值，以決定在輸出電路內(nèi)是否存在有潛在的故障。（對于那些任何躍變時(shí)間寬度都不能容忍的現(xiàn)場裝置，在AC和DC電壓數(shù)字輸出模件上的OVD都可以被禁止）。
監(jiān)督型數(shù)字輸出模件同時(shí)具有電壓的和電流的反饋，具備在勵(lì)磁和非勵(lì)磁的工作狀態(tài)下故障的完全覆蓋。此外，監(jiān)督型數(shù)字輸出模件還能對回路進(jìn)行連續(xù)校核，驗(yàn)證是否有現(xiàn)場負(fù)載存在?，F(xiàn)場負(fù)載丟失或線路短路時(shí)，在模件上有信號指示。
DC電壓數(shù)數(shù)字輸出模件是專門設(shè)計(jì)來控制那些現(xiàn)場設(shè)備可能長期地保持于一種狀態(tài)。DC電壓數(shù)字輸出模件的OVD診斷能確保完全的故障覆蓋率，即使各點(diǎn)的被命令狀態(tài)從不改變。在這種模件上，一般只在OVD執(zhí)行期間輸出信號發(fā)生躍變，但被保證低于2毫秒（標(biāo)準(zhǔn)的是500微秒），并且對絕大多數(shù)現(xiàn)場設(shè)備是沒有影響的。
