五軸數(shù)控加工的成形原理為單參數(shù)面族包絡(luò)原理, 其真實(shí)的加工誤差為刀具包絡(luò)面相對(duì)于工件曲面的法向誤差,在五軸數(shù)控加工中,如果刀具形狀不同,其干涉部位和干涉判斷就會(huì)有所不同。因此,對(duì)刀具形狀及切削部位分布進(jìn)行合理優(yōu)化,就可以在很大程度上避免或減少刀具的干涉。例如,在五軸數(shù)控加工過(guò)程中廣泛采用的球頭刀,由于球頭刀具有著良好的自適應(yīng)功能,且其對(duì)過(guò)切干涉具有快速檢查的特殊性能,因此在加工行業(yè)中被得到普遍應(yīng)用。但是,球頭刀具的切削速度會(huì)隨著切削位置的不同而發(fā)生改變,尤其是在球頭中心附近的切削速度接近于零。因此,在那些小曲率曲面條件下,采用球頭刀具加工時(shí)的切削質(zhì)量往往比較差,其在加工效率方面的表現(xiàn)也往往不如人意。再加上要生產(chǎn)出能夠適應(yīng)變切削速度的球頭刀具,其價(jià)格往往非常昂貴。一旦被磨損,刀具的修整也非常復(fù)雜。而非球頭刀具能通過(guò)調(diào)整其位置和姿態(tài), 可以使刀觸點(diǎn)軌跡線附近帶狀區(qū)域內(nèi)的刀具包絡(luò)曲面更加接近理論設(shè)計(jì)曲面,從而顯著提高給定精度下的加工帶寬,增大了刀具的有效切削面積,可以獲得高效去除率, 提高加工效率。
由此可見(jiàn),在加工復(fù)雜工件時(shí),特別是結(jié)構(gòu)復(fù)雜的組合模具,為了避免刀具與工件的干涉,從而生成無(wú)干涉刀具路徑,進(jìn)而保證切削質(zhì)量和效率,選擇不同形狀的刀具,優(yōu)化刀具形狀,就顯得尤為重要。
